Operators of the expressways in the country have started today the two-month dry run of the cashless toll collection system.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Who announced the cashless toll collection's re-implementation?

It was the Toll Regulatory Board that announced the cashless toll collection's re-implementation.
  • When did the Department of Transportation first issued the order that requires cashless transactions for all vehicles travelling on toll expressways?

The Department Order No. 2020-12 was issued on August 13, 2020.
  • Last month, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced the program’s execution is  meant to ensure the program’s efficient reimplementation. The initiative is in compliance to the Resolution passed by the House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation that wants to bring back the Contactless Program.

It can be recalled that the Department of Transportation (DOTr) issued Department Order No. 2020-12 on August 13, 2020 that requires cashless or contactless transactions for all vehicles travelling on toll expressways.

However, after motorists experienced glitches in the system, the transportation department allowed vehicles with no radio frequency identification (RFID) stickers and required cash lanes in all toll plazas.

Following this, MPT Mobility encouraged to get their RFID stickers installed in their vehicles prior to today.

“We’re laying down the foundations for the smart urban future that we’re envisioning for Filipinos,” Easytrip President and General Manager Jack Coson said.

“Ultimately, we [MPT Mobility> are aiming for an elevated customer experience and hassle-free driving for Filipinos. With this new implementation, motorists will relish cashless transactions — reflecting MPT Mobility’s commitment to enhancing convenience and efficiency for all motorists,” he added.

    Easytrip card

Per MPT Mobility, vehicle owners can have their Easytrip and Autosweep accounts integrated into one sticker. However, subscribers still need to maintain and reload separate two RFID accounts.

    Easytrip account requirements

Customers who are used to pay cash at tollways need to prepare the following requirement for their subscription to take place:

    • Subscription Form

Clients need to provide essential details including name, email address for monthly statements, mobile number for account advisories, and complete address.

    • Vehicle Information

Vehicle owners must present their plate number or conduction number. In cases that the two are unavailable, they present a copy of their official receipt (OR) and certificate of registration (CR).

After completing the aforementioned items, drivers have to pay for load value to be their vehicle’s RFID account.

The Easytrip personnel will then help new users choose from two types of RFID stickers that would suit their vehicle to be placed on either a headlamp or the windshield.

    Easytrip stickering stations

According to MPT Mobility, motorists may find the convenient location to get Easytrip RFID sticker using Google Maps or the Easytrip Station Finder.

Although RFID installation is available at some toll plazas, MPT Mobility urged vehicle users to visit dedicated stations for swift transactions.

Per MPT Mobility, NLEX toll plazas like NLEX Connector C3 Ramp, and España Toll Barrier offer such service. Starting today, however, toll plazas namely the Pulilan Northbound, Sta. Rita Northbound, San Simon Northbound, Dau Southbound, and Dolores will also have Easytrip RFID installation booths. Cavite-Laguna Expressway as well as C5 Link toll plazas is also having the same initiative.

To help more vehicle owners make the switch faster, caravans that offer installation, replacement, and Autosweep enrollment services will soon be seen in malls and nearby provinces.
