Citroën Adds New Powertrain Option for the New C5 Aircross

The Citroën C5 Aircross is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by French automaker Citroën. Introduced in 2017, this 5 door SUV is Citroën’s flagship model. Now, Citroën has just added a brand new powertrain option to the C5 Aircross SUV range.

Originally, the C5 Aircross comes with a choice of a 1.2 liter PureTech petrol engine that makes 130 hp, a 1.6 liter PureTech petrol engine that makes 180 hp, a 1.5 liter BlueHDi diesel engine that makes 130 hp, and a 2.0 liter BlueHDi diesel engine that makes 180 hp. Depending on the variant, these different engines can be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox, or an eight-speed EAT8 automatic transmission. Citroën has introduced the new PureTech 130 S&S (Stop & Start) EAT8 eight speed automatic option that replaces the current PureTech 180 S&S EAT8 automatic versions. This new powertrain option will be available in the two most popular trim levels in the UK, the Flair and Flair+.   This new powertrain option is available to order now, and will be in production starting February.

In addition to the new powertrain introduction, select BlueHDi diesel engines in the new C5 Aircross SUV range also benefit from significant CO2 reductions. All 1.5L BlueHDi 130 S&S manual transmission variants will experience a 3g/km decrease, from 108g/km to 105g/km, while the 1.5L BlueHDi 130 S&S EAT8 automatic versions will experience a of 5g/km reduction, from 105g/km to 100g/km. This reduction makes the C5 more fuel efficient than ever.     Ever since its January 2019 launch, new C5 Aircross SUV has been dubbed as ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Best Medium SUV’ in the DieselCar and EcoCar magazine ‘Top 50’, and, more recently, the car was awarded the ‘Comfort Award’ in the annual carwow Car of the Year Awards.

The family-friendly C5 SUV features 19 driver assistance systems including Driver Attention Alert, Highway Driver Assist, and Speed Limit Recognition. Citroën makes sure that all their customers are transported in pure comfort, so the new C5 Aircross SUV is now fitted with the Progressive Hydraulic Cushion® suspension system that removes traditional bump stops for a more premium ride.   This year, the award winning C5 Aircross SUV range will also be introduced with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option, marking the first step in Citroën’s electrification strategy – a plan that will be fully accomplished by 2025.
