Ford breaks ground for BlueOval City project

Ford has started the construction of the BlueOval City — the company’s largest and most advanced auto production complex in its 119-year history. According to the Dearborn-based automotive brand, structural steel has been erected on Ford’s soon-to-rise city in West Tennessee.

“We are building the future right here in West Tennessee. This facility is the blueprint for Ford’s future manufacturing facilities and will enable Ford to help lead America’s shift to electric vehicles,” said Ford New Footprint Construction Director Eric Grubb.

BlueOval City is a product of a US$5.6-billion investment by Ford and SK On. BlueOval City is envisioned to become a place where Ford will build its revolutionary all-new electric truck as well as the advanced batteries that will power future Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

In addition, the nearly six-square-mile mega campus will bring Ford closer to its target of a two million electric vehicle (EV) production run rate globally by late 2026.

BlueOval City will have a transformational impact on Tennesseans and our economy, and we’re proud this global company will call Haywood County home,” commented Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.
