GAC Int’l PH officially launches new MPV family

MANILA: GAC International Philippines has officially launched three multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), which the local wing of the Chinese carmaker refers to as the MVP MPVs. 

According to the Guangzhou-headquartered auto firm, its new people movers make up a purpose-built lineup, engineered to deliver distinct, tailor-made comfort experiences for every user and every journey. 

“Moving beyond traditional single-category boundaries, the GAC MPV Family embraces the true definition of a multi-purpose vehicle, offering versatile mobility solutions for executive transit, premium passenger travel, and dynamic personal lifestyles,” GAC Philippines wrote in a press release. 

“More than a standard model rollout, GAC introduces a unified lineup that caters to diverse lifestyles and business needs, bringing together practical utility, efficient hybrid performance, and flagship luxury,” it added.

GAC One Philosophy

Per GAC Philippines, the launch of its three MPVs is rooted in the auto firm’s One Philosophy, which pushes the idea that comfort starts with confidence. 

As such, the said models feature flexible space, which have intelligent cabin layouts that adapt to diverse passenger and cargo requirements; thoughtful engineering with purposeful features and invisible technologies for real-world use; and reliable performance, boasting benchmark quality and powertrain efficiency that ensure peace of mind on almost any road. 

“The official launch of the GAC MPV Family marks an important milestone in the continued growth of GAC Philippines," GAC International Senior Vice President Steven Wang said. 

“With three distinct models, we are bringing Filipino customers a complete MPV lineup that can serve their changing needs, from flexible daily transit to premium travel and executive mobility. This reflects our long-term commitment to offer vehicles for every user and every journey,” he added. 

Here are the newly-launched haulers 

GAC GN6: All-scenario MPV

Positioned as an all-scenario MPV, the all-new GAC GN6 is marketed as the ideal vehicle for most Filipino families. 

It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that generates some 174 horsepower (hp) and 270 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

Touted as a daily driver and an occasional excursion car, the all-new GAC GN6 is capable of clocking in at 14 kilometers per liter with an estimated range of 728 kilometers with a full tank of gas. 

Notable features include a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 14.6-inch infotainment system, six-speaker audio system, and suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist.

The suggested retail price of the GAC GN6 is P1.198 million, but it is currently offered with an introductory price of P1.128 million. 

GAC E8 HEV: Mid-to-premium MPV

Families who are on the market for a mid-to-premium MPV can check out the GAC E8 HEV. 

This seven-seater packs a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission to put out 138 horses and 180 Nm of pulling power, while the electric motor generates 179 hp and 300 Nm.

Combined range is at 1,000 km. 

Occupants can enjoy the GAC E8 HEV’s 8.8-inch instrument panel, 14.6-inch multifunction touchscreen display, and wireless charging. In addition, safety features include integrated cruise assist, high beam assist, and lane departure warning. 

As of its launch, its GL trim retails at P1.858 million while the top-spec GX is priced at P1.998 million. Within the introductory period, the GL and GX are offered with a price of P1.778 million and P1.918 million, respectively.   

GAC GN8 PHEV Executive: Built for the boss

Catering to large families with premium needs, as well as corporate clients, is the GAC GN8 PHEV. 

Like the abovementioned, the MPV also uses a hybrid powertrain comprised of a 2.0-liter turbocharged Miller cycle engine supported by a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission to make 373 hp and 630 Nm.

It also packs a 25.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery that offers a full electric range of 120 km and a combined range of 1,038 km. 

Features offered are power seats with ventilation and heating, sunshades, ambient lighting, as well as triple-zone air conditioning with an air filter and a fragrance system. 

When it comes to safety, it gets active vehicle dynamic control, fusion automatic parking assist, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, among other technologies. 

The GN8 PHEV retails at P3.488 million, but it is available with an introductory price of P3.338 million. 

"An MPV must do more than provide additional seating. It must be engineered around the people who use it, taking into account their comfort, safety, changing needs, and the many different journeys they take," GAC International Chief Technology Officer Masato Katsumata noted. 

"With the GN6, E8 HEV, and GN8 PHEV Executive, GAC brings together more than a decade of specialized MPV excellence to offer Filipino customers a clear choice tailored to their specific comfort expectations,” he stated.
