Geely is 8th best-selling automotive brand in PH

Geely has secured the eighth spot in the country’s best-selling automotive brands after retailing 9,302 units in 2022.

The aforementioned sales volume reflected a 52-percent growth compared to 2021.

Per Geely Philippines (which is under Sojitz G Auto Philippines [SGAP> Corporation), the total vehicle sales allowed the firm to corner 2.6 percent of the overall market share within the distributor-members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers in the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI).

According to the Chinese automotive brand’s local arm, the Geely Coolray continues to be its highest-selling nameplate in its roster, delivering 4,370 units to customers for the full 12 months of 2022 and showed a 36-percent growth year-on-year. To note, the model had its refreshed iteration revealed at the Manila International Auto Show 2022.

Trailing the Coolray is the Geely Okavango with 3,041 units turned over to buyers and had a 19-percent sales growth.

The Geely Emgrand (the model that the distributor re-introduced in February last year), already sold 1,458 units upon reaching December 31, 2022, allowing the brand to climb at the top-sixth position in the local passenger vehicle segment after getting 3.8 percent of the market.

Meanwhile, the Geely Azkarra sold 433 examples, which shows an improvement of 35-percent compared to 2021. 

 “Geely’s overall sales performance in 2022 has definitely benefited from the popularity and increased demand for bigger vehicles last year wherein more buyers shifted to SUVs and MPVs,” SGAP President and Chief Executive Officer Yugo Kiyofuji was quoted as saying.

“We are facing the new year with a greater outlook not only for Geely but also for the country’s whole car industry given the significant improvement in the overall industry sales in 2022.  As we target to sell five digits this year, we remain focused to further expand our network especially on growth areas. This is also an exciting time for Geely as we aim to introduce more models that will continue to change the game in its respective segments,” he added.
