More than 500,000 motorcycle riders are the target of Gulf Oil Philippines and Bajaj as they have formally launched their new engine oil for motorcycles, the Bajaj DTS-I Oil, in the country.

In separate interviews during the launch, Gulf Oil Philippines General Manager Arvind Dargan and Bajaj International Business Manager Jagnesh Adlakha and Senior Manager Tuhin Dass said that the new oil is formulated specifically for Bajaj engines to reach optimum level performance. Adlakha cited that currently, around 500,000 motorcycle riders use Bajaj engines--through a partnership with Kawasaki--locally. "And the figures continue to grow as Bajaj is within the top three best-selling motorcycles in the Philippines," he noted. "With that figures, we want all users of Bajaj engines to use the new Bajaj DTS-I Oil for them to reach their motorcycle's peak performance," Dass told Carmudi Philippines. He added that the new lubricant was a product for the first partnership/collaboration with a motorcycle company. Gulf Oil Philippines officially launched the Bajaj DTS-I Oil last May 26 at Shangri-la Makati. The event was attended by officials from Bajaj Auto Limited, Kawasaki Motors Philippines Corporation and Gulf Oil channel partners. Although it was developed for a certain engine, Dargan said that the newly-launched mineral-based Bajaj DTS-I Oil can also be used on other motorcycles and even on older models. "This was the developed especially for DTS-i engines which could help purists to put the right oil on their vehicles," Dargan urged motorcycle owners--especially those running on Bajaj engines--to use the new product as it is developed by two global brands. Prior to its introduction on Philippine shores for the CT, Discover and Rouser models, the Baja DTS-I oil was introduced in India, Mexico and Bangladesh. "We feel proud to introduce Bajaj genuine oil in the Philippines as it would strengthen our range of premium motorcycle oils and enhance our rich legacy of Quality, Endurance and Passion," Dargan added.

The lubricants--formulated for longer drain intervals--were designed to ensure better protection against engine wear, corrosion and damage. The Bajaj DTS-i oil offers patented formulation for 5,000-kilometer drain intervals and is available in two variants; 10W-30 for bikes up to 100cc and 20W-50 for more than 100cc. Gulf Oil Philippines has more than 30 channel partners nationwide and supply lubricants through more than 3,000 resellers--majority in the motorcycle oil segment.   Story and photos by Ruben Manahan IV
