Here’s the traffic rerouting plan in time for incoming President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s inauguration

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that it shall be implementing a traffic rerouting plan for the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 30.

    In its advisory, the government agency shared the following roads that will be affected by the rerouting scheme:

    Road closure schedules

    • June 26, at 12:01 a.m. to June 30, 11 p.m.: 
    • Padre Burgos Avenue 
    • Finance Road 
    • Ma. Orosa Street (from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos)
    • General Luna Street (from P. Burgos to Muralla Street)
    • June 30, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.:
    • Ayala Boulevard
    • Victoria Street (from Taft Avenue to Muralla Street)

    Rerouting for public utility and private vehicles

    • Northbound vehicles coming from Roxas Boulevard should turn right at U.N. Avenue or Kalaw Avenue, then turn left at Taft Avenue 
    • Eastbound vehicles coming from Roxas Boulevard should turn left at Kalaw Avenue or U.N. Avenue, then turn right at Taft Avenue

    •  Northbound
    • Those coming from South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) may take Osmeña Highway, turn left at Quirino Avenue, turn right at Roxas Boulevard, straight to Bonifacio Drive going to the point of destination. However, the Buendia to P. Burgos portion of Roxas Boulevard will be closed to traffic on June 30 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Also, those from SLEX can go straight to Osmeña Highway, turn right at Quirino Avenue, straight to Nagtahan Street and to Lacson Avenue, left at Yuseco Street, straight to Capulong St. then turn right to R-10 Road to reach the point of destination.
    • Southbound
    • From Bonifacio Drive, go straight to Roxas Boulevard, turn left at Quirino Avenue, then turn right at Osmeña Highway and go straight to SLEX to reach the point of destination. However, the Buendia to P. Burgos portion of Roxas Boulevard will be closed to traffic on June 30 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    • Mendiola Street  
    • June 30, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.: 
    • Jalandoni Street, Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City 
    • June 30, 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.: 
    • Legarda Street (from San Rafael to Figueras Street)

    Rerouting for public utility and private vehicles

    •  Vehicles going to Jalandoni Street may take Atang Dela Rama or Roxas Boulevard
    • Motorists from Earnshaw Street in Sampaloc planning to pass through Legarda Street should turn left at Manrique Street
    • Those coming from Sta. Mesa area via Legarda Street intending to pass through Mendiola Street should turn right at M.F. Jhocson Street then left at Lardizabal Street
    • Vehicles from P. Casal Street that should be passing through Mendiola Street may turn left at Arlegui Street 
    • Motorists from Quezon Boulevard and C.M. Recto Avenue that should be passing through Mendiola Street should turn left at N. Reyes Street or right at S. H. Loyola

    Alternate routes from north to south of Metro Manila

    • From R-10 via C3, Sergeant Rivera Street, Araneta Avenue
    • From McArthur Highway and NLEX via EDSA
    • From Balintawak via Metro Manila Skyway

    Alternate routes from north to south of Metro Manila

    • From Roxas Boulevard via EDSA
    • From SLEX via C5 to Congressional Avenue going to Mindanao Avenue
    • From SLEX via EDSA
    • From SLEX via Metro Manila Skyway

    According to MMDA Chairman Romando Artes, the agency will have 2,000 personnel for traffic management, clearing operations, and emergency response. Aside from that, tow trucks and ambulances will also be deployed to strategic locations for quick response when needed.

    The MMDA — in close coordination with the Presidential Security Group, City Government of Manila, Manila Police District, and National Capital Region Police Office — is tasked to ensure the participants' seamless movement and traffic management.
