Hirakata is Mitsubishi PH’s 1st-ever chairman

Noriaki Hirakata has been appointed as the first-ever chairman of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC).

    Per MMPC, the appointment reflects the company’s “stronger commitment to enhancing corporate governance and driving sustainable business growth.”

    “As Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) shifts its focus towards the Philippines, MMC also aims to firm up mid- to long-term business plans for the Philippine market to ensure the continuous success of the brand in the country,” the company noted in a statement.

    To note, Hirakata — concurrently the MMC Assistant Executive Officer — is responsible for Corporate Strategy Management in Tokyo Head Office that will allow him to perform closer coordination between MMC and MMPC to guarantee smooth execution of business plans for the Philippine market.

    As MMPC chairman, Hirakata’s main responsibility is to oversee implementation of strategic business plans by the Executive Management Committee to further solidify the brand’s position as one of the market leaders in the Philippines.

    However, MMPC shared that the day-to-day operations of the company will remain under the MMPC President and chief executive officer’s responsibility. The position is still under Takeshi Hara.
