Honda PH Updates Honda Civic with New 1.8 S CVT Variant

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda's automobile unit in the Philippines, is pleased to introduce the new 2019 Honda Civic. Refreshed with new exterior styling features and added convenience features, it aims to further satisfy customers needs for a sporty and functional compact sedan.

Since its introduction in 2016, the 10th-generation Civic continues to lead the C-Segment, selling more than 10,494 units as of March 2019. The strong and positive response from the market led to its numerous awards from local and international awarding bodies.

For 2019, the new Civic' sporty vibe was further enhanced with new exterior styling cues. Up front, new features such as a newly-designed Front Bumper and Full LED Headlights with Integrated Daytime Running Lights give the new Civic RS Turbo CVT and 1.8 E CVT a low and wide stance and refreshed sporty look while still retaining its familiar Honda front fascia. To further emphasize this sporty update, new 18-inch Belrina Black RS Alloy Wheels for the RS Turbo CVT and new 16-inch Shark Gray Metallic Alloy Wheels for the 1.8 E CVT are made available to give the new Civic a more aggressive and sporty stance on the road.

In addition to its sporty exterior updates, the new Civic boasts an advanced and sophisticated interior loaded with numerous technology features. Up front, the Civic's high center console gives the driver and passenger that sports car feel complimenting its low seating position. Highlighting the new Civic's advanced technology is a full-color TFT instrument panel that gives the driver a customizable information display which can show various vehicle and infotainment information within the driver's instrument cluster. Together with this, the new Civic RS Turbo CVT and 1.8 E CVT features an updated seven-inch Touch Screen Advanced Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability now integrated with hard buttons and a volume knob. This allows passengers to have a more intuitive connectivity while inside the new Civic. For the RS Turbo CVT, Navigation, Leather Seats, and Leather Interior trims can be found around the cabin giving the Civic a more premium feel. Other features such as eight-way power adjustable driver's seat and new sports pedals can also be found in the new Civic RS Turbo CVT.

Together with this refresh, HCPI is also introducing a new variant for the new Civic, the 1.8 S CVT variant. Being the model's entry variant, the Civic 1.8 S CVT aims to give customers one of the best value for money proposition in the C-Segment Category. Outside, the Civic 1.8 S CVT sports new Halogen Projector Headlights with Integrated Daytime Running Lights and 16-inch Two Tone Alloy Wheels which still compliment the Civic 1.8 S CVT sporty and aggressive front fascia. Inside, the Civic 1.8 S CVT gets Honda's seven-inch Touch Screen Display Audio system. This provides customers more ease and enjoyment as they navigate through their in-car entertainment requirements through the systems Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free telephone functionality and audio streaming as well as USB input for media playback.

Under the hood, the New 2019 Civic is available with two engine options; namely, the 1.5-liter turbo charged DOHC i-VTEC engine for the RS Turbo which produces 171 hp at 5,500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 220 Nm at 1,700-5,500 rpm. On the other hand, powering the Civic's 1.8 E and 1.8 S variants is Honda's familiar 1.8 Liter SOHC i-VTEC engine. This engine produces a maximum power of 139 hp at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm which can still give the Civic its familiar responsive performance and fuel efficiency. Power of both engines is transmitted through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed based on Honda's Earth Dreams Technology.

The engine and transmission provide responsive performance, acceleration, and efficient fuel economy. On top of the Civic’s potent powertrains, Honda's Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and Eco-Coaching Ambient Light, is still available to help encourage drivers to achieve fuel-efficient driving.

To ensure the highest level of safety and customer confidence, all variants of the new Civic is equipped with advanced safety features. The RS Turbo CVT, on the other hand, will get additional safety features such as Front Driver and Passenger Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags for added protection for the passengers.
