Hyundai Staria to be launched in Thailand; are we next?

Hyundai Staria

Hyundai Motor Company has announced the release of the Hyundai Staria in Thailand. The launch will happen via a Facebook live stream on July 9, from 7 to 8 p.m., and will mark the Hyundais Staria’s arrival in the ASEAN market.

Interested customers can follow the link here for the Hyundai Staria’s Thailand launch.

The Staria is the South Korean automaker’s follow-up to its successful passenger van, the Starex.

Hyundai will make the Staria available in two powertrain options: a diesel-powered 2.2-liter VGT engine and a gasoline-powered Smartstream G6DIII 3.5-liter MPI engine.

The diesel mill will be mated to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission while the gasoline powerplant will be mated to an eight-speed automatic tranny. The former makes 175hp and 431Nm of torque while the former generates 268hp and 331Nm of torque.

Based on the teaser photos, however, Thailand will most likely be receiving the standard Staria model which features slim LED headlamps and a body-colored grille.

With the forthcoming launch of the MPV in our neighboring country, it’s only a matter of time before Hyundai brings the Staria to Philippine shores. Right?
