Jeep, Ram, and Fiat partner with (RED) to release special-edition vehicles for a cause

Three of the largest automotive brands have rallied together for a greater cause, to help fight pandemics. Jeep, Ram, and Fiat have partnered with (RED) — an organization created to fight the world’s biggest health emergencies — to launch (RED)-branded special-edition models.

According to the participating automotive brands, roughly US$4 million of the proceeds will be used to fight global health crises including AIDS and COVID-19, through Global Fund, one of the world’s largest funders for global health.

“We’re tremendously grateful to (RED) for forming this valuable partnership with FIAT, Jeep, and Ram,” said Global Fund Executive Director, Peter Sands.

“At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic threatens to derail the progress we have made in the fight against HIV, this new partnership will help us reach more communities with the support they need to beat COVID-19 and protect the gains achieved against HIV.”

For its part, Jeep will be lending (RED) the 2022 Compass and the 2022 Renegade. The former will launch in the US and Canada in the first quarter of 2022 while the latter will follow in the U.S. and Canada soon after, then in Europe in the second half of 2022.

RAM, on the other hand, offers the (RED)-branded 2022 Ram 1500 Limited. It will be based on the Ram 1500 Limited Night and will be launched in late 2021.

Meanwhile, Fiat will give (RED) its new 500. The brand’s mini EV is already available only in the European market.

The money raised by (RED)’s partners and campaigns go directly to strengthen health systems and support life-saving programs in the communities where pandemics hit hardest.

“This partnership with Fiat, Jeep, and Ram is a powerful shot in the arm for (RED)’s fight against pandemics and the complacency that fuels them. It’s hard to believe that 15 years on from (RED)’s founding we are now fighting another tiny virus, but it’s even harder to see the virus of injustice that marked the AIDS pandemic, which is alive and well during COVID,” said (RED) co-founder Bono.

The U2 frontman added, “Less than five percent of people in Africa are fully vaccinated, while vaccines are plentiful in Europe and America. We have to do more and fast to support the hundreds of millions of people who don’t yet have access to vaccines, therapeutics, or sufficient PPE. Because unless this pandemic is defeated everywhere, no one will be safe anywhere.”
