Kaicene PH launches all-new CX-70 crossover
Following its teaser that shows the tagline “Your Power To Move”, Berjaya Auto Asia Incorporated (BAAI) — the Philippine distributor of Kaicene commercial vehicles — has officially made available the all-new CX-70 crossover locally.

It is a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired to six-speed automatic transmission with a rear-wheel drive layout.The all-new Kaicene CX-70 — which wears a Changan badge in its home country — is a seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) that is “designed to deliver the power, space and reliability needed to safely achieve life’s goals.”

“BAAI and Kaicene Philippines are proud to introduce a brand-new model that not only enhances our core essence of being a value-laden commercial vehicle provider, but also opens up our brand to families who espouse togetherness in the journey of life,” BAAI President Japheth Castillo said.

The introduction of the newest model expands Kaicene Philippines' number of offerings to four — adding to the Kaicene Honor S, the Star Truck and the X5.
The all-new Kaicene CX70 is said to be the biggest in its class — 4,705mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,775mm tall with a 2,780mm-wheelbase. To note, the said model will be going against the likes of the Toyota Rush and Suzuki XL7, among others.
Aside from that, the vehicle offers up to 3,810 liters of cargo space inside its monocoque body frame — making it a very versatile vehicle that can transport people and cargo.
Powering the all-new Kaicene CX70 is a turbocharged 1.5 naturally-aspirated engine that can deliver a peak output of 230Nm torque and 148hp. This is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends the power through a rear-wheel drive layout.
BAAI said that the arrangement of “separating the driving load from the front wheels ensures the equal distribution of load throughout the vehicle.”

Castillo shared that the said pairing also enables the vehicle to deliver as much as 15 kilometers per liter (kpl) consumption. However, based on BAAI’s initial test, the all-new Kaicene CX70 can do a 9-12 kpl reading when driven on a mix of highway and city roads.
The all-new Kaicene CX70 wears wheel arches and defined shoulder lines that exude a muscular stance.
Its stylish front grille highlighting hexagonal design elements complements the overall look while showcasing the attention to detail given in the development of the model. This is flanked with projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights introduce its commanding presence.
This whole vehicle sits on 17-inch wheels with 215/60 R17 tires.
Inside, the seats of all the three rows inside the all-new Kaicene CX70 are covered with thermoplastic polyurethane while the driver gets a black leather-wrapped steering wheel. Providing accents are the chrome trimmings on the shifter console and cup holder surrounds, along with bronze-finished embellishments on the dashboard. The second-row seats fold 40-60 split, while the third-row can do a 50-50 split.
Further, the all-new Kaicene CX70 features a large sunroof — commonly found on more expensive vehicles — that gives a view overhead or can be opened to let the breeze of outside air come inside the cabin.
Moreover, the newly-launched model has conveniences such as electric power steering system, 12-volt power outlets in the front and third row area, power-folding side mirrors and eight-inch touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth connectivity that can play music through its six speakers located inside the cabin.
Touch-sensitive shortcut buttons are also fitted in the all-new Kaicene CX70 to access specific functions and features of the infotainment system. “The touch panel also eliminates the use of separate buttons for the air-conditioning controls,” BAAI added.
The all-new Kaicene CX70 Its safety features include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, ISOFIX anchor points in the second row.
In addition, Smart Keyless Entry, four Rear Parking Sensors and a Reverse Camera are also found within the all-new Kaicene CX70.
With Red, White, Black and Silver colors to choose from, customers may now buy the all-new Kaicene CX70 for P879,000.
This comes with a three-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty. “All parts and services will be accommodated by BAAI’s existing dealership network located in Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Bonifacio Global City, Taguig; Davao; Cagayan de Oro; General Santos City and Butuan.
