LTFRB has netted 13 ‘colorum’ premium taxis since March

LTFRB anti-colorum campaign

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced that a total of 13 premium taxis were caught due to alleged illegal activities since last March.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the penalties that the operators of colorum vehicles will be facing?

The LTFRB noted that based on Joint Administrative Order 2014-01, the operators of the vehicles who were caught operating illegally are facing a fine of P200,000 and the vehicles will be impounded for up to three months after paying the fine. The operators can also lose their certificate of public convenience that allows them to operate.
  • From what companies are the apprehended premium taxis from?

The LTFRB identified that the vehicles were from G.V. Daraman Transport and SRRCA Araneta Transport Corporation.
  • The agency said that the aforementioned number of premium taxis netted in the continuing anti-colorum operations were based on the numerous complaints that the LTFRB received about illegal public use of vehicles.

Ayon sa mga nakalap na reklamo, nagpapabayad ng ‘per ulo’ o kada pasahero ang mga nahuling Premium Taxi, taliwas sa orihinal nitong operasyon na dapat ay meter-based ang kanilang pamasahe (According to the complaints gathered, the Premium Taxis are charging per passenger, instead of meter-based fare system),” the LTFRB explained.
