The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) have launched the “Pinabilis sa Bagong Bayani ang Magkalisensya” (LTO PBBM Project).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the goal of the LTO PBBM Project?

Per the agency, the goal of the LTO PBBM Project is to facilitate easier driver's license renewals for OFWs.
  • When did the LTO launch the program?

The Program was launched last week during Migrant Workers Day.
  • Under the said initiative, the country’s land transportation bureau looks to offer overseas Filipino workers (OFW) an easier way to renew their driver’s licenses.

“This initiative is another product of the instruction of our President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. not only to make the government services fast and comfortable to all Filipinos, whether in the Philippines or abroad but also in his directive to go digital to further bring government services closer to the people,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza said.

With the LTO PBBM Project, OFW can renew their driver’s licenses online instead of having to physically visit an LTO branch.

“This project will save time and reduce the financial burden on Filipinos living or working abroad who might otherwise need to travel back to the Philippines to renew their driver’s license,” Mendoza noted.

“This is also aimed at aligning with global trends in e-governance and modernizing government services by offering online license renewal, reflecting a commitment to digital transformation,” he added.

Per Mendoza, the LTO PBBM Project is the result of the discussion between Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista and DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.

It was launched last week during the Migrant Workers Day celebrations at the DMW Office in Mandaluyong City, where Cacdac expressed gratitude to the DOTr Secretary and the LTO Chief Assistant Secretary for finding ways to improve the country’s services to the Filipino migrant workers.
