The Auto Nation Group, official distributor of the Mercedes-Benz brand in the Philippines, recently unveiled the sporty business sedan that is the new E-Class. The Stuttgart-based luxury carmaker touts the new version as a “masterpiece of intelligence,” a “showcase of technological innovations” boasting advanced driving features and top-notch accessories befitting the brand. “The new E-Class is the most intelligent, most comfortable, and (most) sporty business sedan ever. It provides the best safety standard in its segment while maintaining the sophisticated look expected from Mercedes-Benz,” the carmaker said in a release.
Powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a new 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission, the E-Class is able to quickly change gears with low engine revs – leading to increased fuel efficiency and manageably low noise levels. A steel suspension system comes standard, promising agile and secure driving even on tricky and twisting roads. Its wheelbase grows by 65 millimeters, while body length has been upped by 43 millimeters – leading to greater legroom and headroom for all occupants. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a full complement of cameras, sensors, and radars that help complete a shell of protection in conjunction with other active and passive safety features. It even boasts semi-autonomous qualities such as an ability to park itself. But even with its sundry of features, the new iteration is 70 kilograms lighter than the previous model – with the body shell consisting of a higher proportion of aluminum and ultra-high-strength steel.
Five driving modes are available: “Comfort,” “Eco,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” and “Individual” (personalized). While its engine guarantees the smoothest, most luxurious drive, inside the car is a masterclass on interior design, marrying the joys of the senses with the cool ease of technology, only amplifying the pure satisfaction of driving and riding the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2017.
