Mitsubishi reports positive domestic sales for December 2022

Mitsubishi Motors shared that the last month of 2022 was positive and fruitful for the Japanese automotive brand as the firm sold 7,060 units locally in the said month.

Per Mitsubishi, this figure translates to a 153.6 percent increase year-on-year.

In terms of production, Mitsubishi built a total of 44,091 units in Japan in December. Meanwhile, the carmaker’s facilities in other countries (China, Thailand, and Indonesia) built a total of 42,718 cars last month.

On that note, Mitsubishi produced a total of 86,809 units in December 2022.

Export-wise, Mitsubishi said it shipped 23,538 units.

Mitsubishi did not disclose what reason it believed helped push its sales in December 2022. However, its returned presence in motorsports — particularly in rallying events thanks to the revival of its Ralliart racing division — might have spurred the global consumers’ improved interest in the automotive brand.

Further, its efforts in the areas of electrification and its participation in various electric vehicle expos could have helped Mitsubishi increase its following and customer base.
