In April 2018,
Honda revealed what the
next-generation Honda Brio will look like with the
Small RS Concept at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. Well, the
2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show has just wrapped up and
Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), the Japanese carmaker's manufacturing and distribution arm in Indonesia, launched the
all-new, second-generation Honda Brio hatchback at the annual event.
According to Honda Indonesia, the all-new Honda Brio was developed "to revolutionize all aspects of the previous generation to be
an above-class vehicle based on the needs of its customers," with several changes to its look to give it a
more dynamic and sporty design while providing
more spacious and functional cabin and luggage space. It is claimed that the all-new Brio also offers a "fun-to-drive experience while still maintaining excellent fuel-efficiency."
Powering the all-new Honda Brio is a
Euro 4-compliant, 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine that produces
89 hp and
110 Nm of torque through either a
five-speed manual transmission or an
Earth Dreams Technology CVT.
The Brio is equipped with a chrome grille, halogen headlights with LED light guides, fog lamps, a spoiler with a high-mounted LED third brake light, rear combination taillights, 14-inch alloy wheels, and heat-rejecting green-tinted windows.
For those who'd like a little bit more out of their Brio, there's also the
Brios RS which replaces some of the standard Brio's parts with new ones like the black roof, the black grille with the RS emblem, power folding door mirrors, side under spoiler, a diffuser on the rear bumper, and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the standard Brio has a
two-tone interior, with the
black silver-lined dashboard, steering wheel, and door panel being a pleasant contrast to the
beige seats and roof liner. The RS though has
an all-black cabin but with
orange trims on the dashboard and seats along with the
RS logo on the instrument cluster. Entertainment is provided through a
6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and hands-free telephony functionality with remote audio control on the steering wheel.
Maneuvering the Brio through the streets promises to be both enjoyable and exciting thanks to its
electric power steering and, at least for the RS, its
sporty-tuned suspension.
No word yet when
Honda Cars Philippines will bring in the all-new, second-generation Honda Brio but, with the recent launch in Indonesia, we just might see it at the upcoming
2018 Philippine International Motor Show.
