NLEX, Angeles City, sign traffic management pact
To address the current traffic situation in the area, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) has been signed between the NLEX Corporation and the City of Angeles, Pampanga.
The agreement signing was headed by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, NLEX Corporation Vice President for Asset Management Jennifer Jane Go and NLEX Corporation Assistant Vice President for Operations Management West Dionisio.
Under the MOA, the two parties shall implement mitigating measures around the traffic management zone to ease congestion and bolster safety and security of both motorists and pedestrians.
Among these measures include deployment of traffic personnel, improvement of service time at the toll plaza, clearing of sidewalks, and prohibition of illegal parking, loading/unloading, and jaywalking affecting the NLEX traffic flow.
Further, the MOA covers regular consultation between the two parties on plans and policies that may affect the area.
Back in 2018, NLEX augmented the Angeles Toll Plaza with two entry lanes and one exit lane, bringing the total toll lanes to 10. It has also completed a traffic impact study incorporating planned mixed-use and infrastructure developments in the area to develop traffic engineering strategies thus improve mobility in the City.
