Oracle Red Bull Racing achieves 1-2 finish in Miami
Oracle Red Bull Racing, this season’s dominant team, further proved its advantage over the competition after it achieved a one-two finish at the recently held Miami Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso was the third fastest driver in the Miami Grand Prix. The prowess of the two Red Bull machines proved to be far superior to those on the grid as the two race cars — which also wore special Miami livery (photo above) — powered Max Verstappen, who started ninth on the grid and sustained the lead for Sergio Perez, who began the race at pole.
“It was a good race. I stayed out of trouble at the beginning and then just had a clean race, picked the cars off one by one. Then I could stay out really long on the hard tires and that’s where I think we made the difference today,” Verstappen said in a press release from Formula 1.
The Dutch racer noticeably used the words “clean race” repeatedly during his statement, probably alluding to the incident he had with Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team driver George Russel — whom he called names after — prior to Miami.
“Yesterday was of course a bit of a setback. Today we just kept it calm, kept it clean, and for sure, winning a race from P9 is always very satisfying.”
Perez, on the other hand, started in the first position on the grid. Despite having earned the advantage due to a terrific qualifying performance, the Mexican lost the initiative to Verstappen after he pitted for hard tires.
Red Bull’s number two driver, now dubbed the “street king” after his phenomenal race in Baku, couldn’t hold off the two-time champion even after Verstappen pitted for new medium tires.
“Yeah, I mean I tried — I gave it all. I think the first stint was really poor with the graining that we had on that initial pace. And that compromised quite a lot of our race. We didn’t have too much of a difference on tire, and Max was particularly strong today, so a well-deserved win for him,” Checo told Formula 1.
Trailing behind in third place was Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team.
The man, who seems to be enjoying his name being linked to Taylor Swift, is doing very well in his Aston Martin machine. It is, in fact, Alonso’s fourth podium in five races, which proves how powerful the carmaker’s machinery is.
“The car is amazing, and [it was> a little bit of a lonely race, today. Nothing really to do in front of us with the Red Bulls and behind us. We did expect a little bit stronger opposition, but the Ferraris, they were a little bit worse than expected. It’s not easy, it’s never easy, but it was a lonely race,” Alonso commented post-race.
Many fans expect to continue to see a dominating performance from Red Bull as the Formula 1 team has signed engineer Adrian Newey for “several seasons to come.”
To note, Newey has been credited for the outstanding cars Red Bull has fielded in the past race seasons. With Newey on the team’s side, the Red Bulls have seen significant improvement in their race stats — to the point that they’ve now won back-to-back championships.
“Well, we don’t tend to talk about employees’ contracts publicly but Adrian has been with us a long time, and that will continue for several seasons to come,” stated Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Team Principal Christian Horner.
Additionally, Red Bull is getting more firepower in the future in the form of its forthcoming tie-up with Ford.
