Pacific Ave. temporarily closed starting tonight for LRT-1 Cavite Extension work

The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) advised motorists using the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) that there will be a temporary closure of the Pacific Avenue starting tonight until Thursday.

The measure will pave the way for the installation of pi-girders that will require the closure of both northbound and southbound carriageways. Motorists bound for CAVITEX are advised to take MIA road.

The schedule for the road closure are as follows:  

• August 17 (Tuesday) 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.;
• August 18 (Wednesday) 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.; 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
• August 19 (Thursday) 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.

Earlier this month, LRMC said that it will conduct the needed closure on August 16 to 19. The private contractor explained that “adjustments have been made on the construction schedule.”

Further, LRMC assured the public that this will only be temporary and “the construction of LRT-1 Cavite Extension, in the long run, will give commuters a faster, more comfortable, and convenient experience.”

“The new LRT-1 stations will be better integrated with other transport terminals such as the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA),” the LRMC added.

Construction of the viaduct of LRT-1 extension is eyed to be completed by the end of this year, while the electro-mechanical works are set to begin in January next year. The target is for Phase 1 to be operational by mid or late 2024.
