Petron, TESDA open Car Care Center training facility in Taguig

Petron and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) inaugurated the Car Care Center (CCC) training facility at the latter’s compound in Taguig.

In a statement, the oil firm said that the project was the product of its partnership with the agency that is aimed to create more opportunities for Filipinos and address the country’s need for more skilled personnel.

 Leading the inauguration ceremony held last June 29 were TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña and Petron General Manager Lubin Nepomuceno.

Completed in three months’ time, the new facility has a full car repair set-up that can also be seen in every Petron CCC, the company’s automotive care brand. 

“We want this to be a venue where our countrymen will come out more capable, more experienced, and more empowered to lead better lives. We want them to have not only the proper skills but also the confidence to support their families and chase after bigger dreams. With this project, we hope to impart not only the Petron brand of excellence but also our commitment to fueling hope and success,” Nepomuceno was quoted as saying.

Petron said that it has been working with TESDA to craft specific training modules that are fitted to the company’s needs, which will prepare the trainees for possible employment opportunities.

“TESDA, in cooperation with Petron, will be offering a Preventive Maintenance Servicing Program. The training design will not be confined to the skills and regulations reflected in the various NC levels but would offer a more comprehensive curriculum that is industry-driven. The target is to accept trainees as early as August 2022 and to produce 25 graduates for the year. In the future, the facility is expected to produce 100 graduates annually,” Lapeña shared.

The fuel company said that the TESDA-Petron CCC will only use its automotive oils “for better quality assurance.”

Moreover, the alliance between the two is set to complement the Petron Foundation’s Automotive Care Education program (Petron ACE). Under the aforementioned initiative, the members of Petron’s fenceline communities receive training to become TESDA-certified mechanics and later work at Petron CCC or lube bays.

Petron CCC and its scaled-down version (Care Car Center Express) has 50 branches nationwide that assure affordable yet casa-quality preventive maintenance services performed by well-trained mechanics.
