PH-spec Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets electrified

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has formally introduced the all-electric G-Class to the Philippine market.

The arrival of the new model, dubbed the Mercedes-Benz G580 came months after Zigwheels Philippines reported about the Inchcape Philippines-led vehicle importer’s plan of bringing it in the country.

In a statement, the Three-Pointed Star marque’s local arm shared that its newest offering combines “the legendary character and off-road prowess of the G-Class with the cutting-edge innovation of electric mobility.”

Aside from that, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 “embodies Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to sustainable luxury, combining zero-emission mobility with uncompromising performance and presence.”

Here’s what customers can get should they opt for the latest member of the company’s new energy vehicle roster.

On paper, the vehicle measures:

Its exterior is made up of the same adventure-ready look as the internal combustion engine iteration by having a boxy look, but has received as flair, thanks to AMG-inspired parts.

• Silver chrome bumper insert
• 20-inch AMG 10-spoke light-alloy wheels 
• On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz G 580 features EQ Technology and features the following amenities:

• Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system with advanced voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Burmester 3D surround audio set-up

• Sliding sunroof

Powering the pure-electric sport utility vehicle are electric motors that can dish out:

The electric powertrain’s mills get their juice from the 116-kilowatt-hour modular lithium-ion battery that gives the vehicle a range of up to 473 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards).

Further, new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology is also built to with numerous technologies such as:

• Torque Vectoring
• G-Steering (enhances agility by turning the wheels at different speeds)
• G-Turn (allows the vehicle to rotate in place up to 720 degrees
• G-Roar, (gives the all-electric G-Class a bold, signature sound presence)
• Acoustic Vehicle Alert System
