Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to Debut SCG Boot SUV at Monterey Car Week
Nearly 50-years have passed since Steve McQueen last raced his original Boot across the Mexican Baja desert for competition, but modern bespoke automotive manufacturer Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is here to continue the journey and create history once again--a little over a year after the company first revealed its plan to the public.
As an intricate model to the SCG line-up, the SCG Boot is a modern road-legal rendition that pays homage to the original McQueen vehicle. Designed and built in North America, with the support of Armada Engineering, a fabrication facility located in Chatsworth, California, SCG has been developing the SCG Boot over the past 17 months. Each SCG Boot is fabricated and assembled by hand, a tedious craftsman-like process that has now come to fruition.
Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 engine, and accented by a wildly-pronounced exhaust system, the two-door race version hosts Fox coil-over racing suspension that offers up to 22-inches of suspension travel for a set of 37-inch BFGoodrich Baja tires. While the interior is loaded with the amenities of air-conditioning, power windows, GPS navigation, and a 170-liter fuel tank with an estimated 640+-kilometer driving range on the highway, the Boot is fully capable for off-road racing or on-road excursions.
SCG will offer the Boot in three versions--a two-door Baja race edition along with two-door and four-door road versions--and is currently accepting orders for production through Glickenhaus North American Racing.
Kicking off the Boot's reveal at Monterey Car Week will be an inaugural drive to the Quail motorsports gathering in the city of Carmel, California where the SCG Boot will be displayed during the day time of Friday, August 16, at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club. The SCG Boot will then be driven to the Weathertech Raceway in Laguna Seca for display on Saturday, August 17, and throughout mid-day on Sunday, August 18.
