Tokyo 2017: Toyota Showcases Concept Cars, Japanese-Market Models
As expected of one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world, Toyota had a lot of vehicles to show at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show--both concept models and production ones that are ready to hit the market.
Aside from the Toyota Tj Cruiser, the planned successor to the outgoing FJ Cruiser which we shared two weeks ago, here are the following vehicles on display at the show that we should watch out for:
The Lexus LS is the all-new flagship model of Toyota's luxury brand. Now in its fifth generation, the all-new Lexus LS has a daring coupe silhouette while preserving ample interior space. It's also equipped with a number of advanced technologies, "achieving monumental advances in innovation as the symbol of the Lexus brand."

The next-generation Toyota Century gives us a glimpse of the Japanese carmaker's premium limousine model that's used by both its statesmen and the members of the Japanese royal family. In a departure from previous models which used V12 engines, the next-gen Toyota Century will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 hybrid system "for outstanding fuel efficiency." The last time the Toyota Century used an engine other than the V12 was the V8--of varying displacements depending on when the particular vehicle was manufactured--used in the first-gen model which was produced from 1967 to 1997.

The Toyota Crown Concept is a preview of the next-generation full-size luxury sedan that's scheduled to go on the market in 2018. According to Toyota, the Crown Concept " features the blend of the storied Crown tradition with its birth in 1955 and the innovation to be expected in the Crown in a next generation mobility society." All we know is that it certainly isn't the Toyota Crown that your father or grandfather once had.

The Toyota GR HV Sports Concept is the carmaker's idea of an environment-friendly sports car. Powered by a hybrid system that has been refined by the TS050 Hybrid race car which competes in the World Endurance Championship, the Toyota GR HV Sports Concept has numerous features that highlight its sporty nature, from the targa top previously seen in the Toyota Sports 800 and the Supra to the six-speed automatic that has an H-pattern shifting manual mode.
