Volvo Cars sold 43,666 cars in August. How much of Volvo's August 2022 sales came from its electrified offerings?
Per Volvo Cars, 21.9 percent of the sales last month came from electrified models. The company attributed the power cuts and COVID-19 outbreaks in China. Volvo Cars also said that the lack of available components, notably semiconductors, continues to influence manufacturing output, which impacted the company’s retail deliveries in August.
Despite the decrease in overall sales for the said month, the Swedish automotive brand is still hopeful and stated that the “demand for the company’s cars remains robust, especially for its Recharge range of pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars.”
Volvo Cars has been focusing on becoming an all-electric brand after announcing its plans to become a luxury electric vehicle (EV) company sometime last year. It can be recalled that Volvo Cars has been making significant strides towards the brand’s electrification and its target of becoming a circular company by 2040.
Notable moves made by Volvo Cars include its partnership with Northvolt to establish battery plants in Sweden; its partnership with other brands, like Starbucks, to promote the use of electric vehicles; and its continuous effort to improve the overall user experience of its electric offerings.
That said, it’s not surprising — thanks to Volvo Cars’ consistent push for its electrified offerings — to know that the Gothenburg-based automotive firm’s Recharge models represented 21.9 percent of the sales last month with fully electric cars accounting for 5.7 percent of sales.
Volvo Cars’ top-selling model for the month was the XC60 with sales of 16,161 cars; followed by the XC40 at 9,766 cars; and the XC90 with 7,678 cars.
In terms of regional sales, Volvo Cars’ European sales figures reached 10,995 cars. About 48 percent of the total sales were from Recharge models.
In the United States, Volvo Cars’ August sales reached 8,136 units with 16.9 percent of the total sales coming from Recharge models.
Volvo Cars’ electrified models are also offered here in the Philippines. Locally available electrically-assisted vehicles from the Geely-owned brand include the mild hybrid Volvo XC90, Volvo XC60, and the Volvo S90.
