driver's license online renewal

MANILA: Motorists now have a more convenient way of renewing their driver’s licenses as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) can now accomplish it online via the eGovPH app.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can motorists apply for online driver's license renewal?

    Motorists may use the eGovPH app to apply for online driver's license renewal.
  • What are the requirements for the online application?

    Prior to the driver's license renewal, applicants must have the following: Telemedicine Medical Examination, Complete Online Driver’s Enhancement Program, and Payment Online.
  • According to LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, the inclusion of the driver’s license renewal in the aforementioned mobile app allows clients to transact wherever they are.

    “This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” Mendoza noted.

    Such initiative is also expected to curb problems regarding fixers.

    To avail of the digital transaction, clients must install the eGovPh app in their smartphones, (downloadable in both Apple App Store or Google Play) and create an account in it.

    Once the eGovPh app is installed and ready for use, those who will apply for online renewal must do the following:

    1. Find the icon NGA, locate LTO, then click;
    2. Select Online Driver’s Application;
    3. Click, Renew Your Driver’s License
    4. Upload or Capture the Front and Back of your Physical Driver’s License
    5. Once uploaded wait for the analyzation of the uploaded card (processing will take around one to three minutes)
    6. Once validation is complete, review and verify the details, then hit submit
    7. Take a photo and follow the Required Standard Format seen in the instructions before taking a photo.

    Further, Mendoza noted that to ensure hassle-free online application, clients need to have the following requirements first that would be uploaded during the online transaction process:

    • Telemedicine Medical Examination
    • Inside the LTO Online Driver's License Renewal System (ODLRS) Portal, click Telemedicine
    • Book appointment
    • Attend and Finish the online medical examination
    • Complete Online Driver’s Enhancement Program (DEP)
    • Inside LTO ODLRS Portal click ODEP
    • Finish the five-hour education program
    • Once the transaction is done
    • Online Payment

    After completing the pre-requirements, they can settle the payment for renewal by following these instructions:

    1. Choose a payment gateway
    2. Pay the corresponding renewal fee

    Per Mendoza, a successful transaction means the driver’s license is already renewed, and that the Electronic Driver’s License will be automatically generated and can be viewed in the eGov App.

    Further, he noted that the e-license is valid as the physical card. Also, clients may also opt to have the card delivered by a courier provider, or picked up at a district office near the clients' location.

    “All of these digitalization efforts are intended to make all transactions in the LTO fast and comfortable to all our clients as instructed by President [Ferdinand> Marcos through Secretary [Vince> Dizon. We are [continuously> evolving to further improve our digital services and expand the reach to all Filipinos even abroad,” Mendoza explained.

    Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that the initiative is meant to simplify the license renewal process, lessen physical transactions, and enhance accessibility for Filipinos nationwide.

    Per Castro, renewing a driver’s license through the ODLRS can take as little as 15 minutes.

    Patunay lamang ang programang ito na sa ilalim ng Marcos administration, hindi imposible ang pagbibigay ng mas mabilis at mas magaan na serbisyo para sa bawat Pilipino sa ilalim ng Bagong Pilipinas (This program only proves that under the Marcos administration, it is not impossible to provide faster and easier services for every Filipino under Bagong Pilipinas),” she noted.
