The 2018 Mazda CX-5 has been named by the United States' Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as a "2018 Top Safety Pick+" when equipped with the Adaptive Front Lighting System built after March 2018.
To qualify for the IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test. It also must earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and a good headlight rating.
In Mazda Philippines' lineup, the Mazda CX-5 that's equipped with Adaptive LED Front Headlights is the AWD Sport Diesel variant. As for the variants that don't have the aforementioned lighting system, specifically the AWD Sport and the FWD Pro, the IIHS gave these a Top Safety Pick rating.
Currently, the CX-5 AWD Sport Diesel is priced at PHP2.23 million while the gasoline-fed AWD Sport and the FWD Pro have a price tag of PHP1.98 million and PHP1.68 million, respectively.
