8 Best Cars for Ladies in the Philippines 2017 Edition

Women have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to driving (and so do men), but one thing’s for sure: Gone are the days where women only stayed at home to care solely for their families. Today’s modern Filipinas juggle their time not just for their loved ones, but also their career, their friends, their hobbies, and even themselves. Not surprisingly, their needs widen in scope, and so are the cars they use.

Women look for vehicles that offer them (and perhaps their future families) a lot of comfortable space. They also look for cars that have good visibility, are easy-to-maintain, reliable, attractive, and safe. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt if these vehicles are stylish, maneuverable and fun-to-drive, but many are willing to compromise a bit as long as their cars don’t take up too much fuel and maintenance expenses in their monthly budget.

Here are some vehicles that pretty much meet these standards:

Honda Civic (starts from ₱ 1,103,000)

What’s not to love about the Civic? This car is easy to drive, safe, attractive, reliable, practical and fuel-efficient. What’s more, their body structure is well-made, making them a good short-term or long-term investment.

This car is ideal for all ladies, and it doesn’t matter whether they’re single or planning to have a small family someday. The Civic has a lot of comfortable space at the back. This makes it it convenient for those fun night-outs with friends or family, and also a small haven for kids to lounge around.

Honda Jazz (starts from ₱ 793,000)

Yes, we have to admit that the Honda Jazz isn’t sexy; nor is it the type of car to make women’s hearts melt like taffy. But then again, it’s one of the best subcompact vehicles to use for women who are into practicality and convenience. At the end of the day, most women prefer the luxury of comfort after the euphoria of traffic and potholes fade.

This car is nimble and agile on the road, thanks to its quick and light steering. It’s also much longer, making it ideal for ladies who need to have a lot of space to fit in their entire family (and things). The cabin is extremely versatile, with lots of headroom and legroom for kids and even pets to move around. It also offers comfortable seats and easily accessible doors that make entering and exiting the car a breeze.

Honda Odyssey (starts from ₱ 1,953,000)

Women who need more space than the Jazz can opt for the Odyssey instead. Surprisingly nimble despite its huge size, this minivan offers one of the most refined ride and handling on the road. What’s more, its sturdy interiors can take in the rough handling of extremely boisterous kids (and adults) like a pro. The second and third row seats also offer good legroom for those extremely boisterous adults to stretch their legs out to rest.

Like the Jazz, the Odyssey also offers a highly versatile and practical cabin that makes it the ideal car for women with medium to large families. And since it’s a Honda, expect it to have very good safety features as well. Many families grow to depend on this car, since it has so many useful features and functions that make their lives easier and more convenient on the road. Really, it’s almost like another member of the family.

Hyundai Tucson (starts from ₱ 1,098,000)

The Hyundai Tucson is ideal for women who are into style, refinement, reliability, and space. This crossover can almost pass as an SUV, since it offers a lot of good space to fill in those occasional shopping sprees. The Tucson is good for women who want to have a lot of options when buying a car. And this vehicle does it extremely well. Women can choose from a wide range of diesel and petrol engines, manual and automatic transmissions, two- or four- wheel drives, and five trim levels — and it’s just getting started.

Indeed, this car is great for girls who love comfort and a dash of elegance on the side. What’s more, the Tucson offers good brake control and noise suppression, serving as a quiet oasis for women who are always on the go.

Kia Sportage (starts from ₱ 1,445,000)

Don’t be deceived by its huge size–this SUV offers really good quality interiors and equipment levels that will suit the taste of many women. This car is ideal for career women with or without families, since its “Germanic” exterior is stylish and attractive enough to make such a good impression on everyone–even nitpick-y colleagues and bosses.

The Sportage offers good and accurate steering that allows women to feel the road surface through the steering wheel. It also offers decent visibility on the road, making it easy for petite women to maneuver the car around. And did we mention it’s on our most reliable cars list? Well, now we did.

By the way, just because it looks good doesn’t mean it doesn’t know how to have fun. Women who are more into the outdoors and off-road driving should get the four-wheel drive variant available on the 1.6 T-GDi and 2.0 diesel GT-Line.

Mercedes Benz E-Class (starts from ₱ 4,390,000)

Women on top and are into luxury should reward themselves with the Mercedes Benz E-Class. This car spells “prestige” with a capital P, so it makes a lot of statement everywhere it goes. It should also be spelled with a capital P for “practicality” since it’s also great for women who need enough space to let their kids move comfortably around.

So what’s it like inside? Just three things: luxurious, quiet, and extremely comfortable. And don’t forget elegant (which is four). The E-Class offers many features that can be of great help for daily driving, especially for busy and stressed-out professionals who need to drive around traffic. For instance, they can use the semi-autonomous driving mode to rest their feet during heavy traffic.

Subaru Forester (starts from ₱ 1,468,000)

The Subaru Forester is a compact SUV that offers a reasonable price for such great features. Its standard all-wheel drive is unique in itself, making it one of the best compact SUVs that women can drive on the road. Its all-wheel drive feature can make it the ideal car for women who live in areas that are often frequented by heavy rain and bad weather.

The Forester is great for women with medium to large families. It’s got one of the highest cargo capacities in its class, with many safety features PLUS roomy back seats for everyone to enjoy.

Toyota Corolla (starts from ₱ 896,000)

The Toyota Corolla might not look flashy outside, but why need all that attention when you can rely on its performance at all times? This car is for ladies who need a vehicle that performs consistently well on the road — something that Toyota does best. What’s more, it’s easy to drive, and offers adequate safety features for its newest models. Those with continuous variable transmissions (CVT) offer very good stability even during acceleration (particularly the ones in higher trims), so it’s fun to speed  it up just for the thrill of it.

It looks like this article is not for many lady drivers. I think this article is only for those ladies who have P100,000 monthly salary and up… Not ideal for a call center supervisor to drive a brand new Honda Civic… I am thinking of yaris, picanto, swift, mirage, and the like…

      Hi Ok2,
      You’ve mentioned good points here.
Still, another good option would be to buy their “second hand” versions. Just make sure to purchase them from reputable sellers.
