‘BiyaHero’ Caravan now on its 4th year

The event was conducted last July 3-5 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City in time for the Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show.Now on its fourth installment, the toll operator’s initiative for 2025 was held last July 3-5 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City — made in collaboration with the Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show.
Similar to the past year’s events, this year’s caravan shared practical knowledge and preparedness to participants — all aimed to help trim down road crashes in the country.

“The BiyaHero Road Safety Caravan is more than an annual event, it’s a commitment to saving lives,” NLEX Corporation Officer-In-Charge Luis Reñon said. “Through education, collaboration, and innovation, we hope to shape safer driving habits and help our partners become true champions of road safety,”
Over the years, the tollway operator has boosted the knowledge of around 1,500 participants pertaining to accident prevention, compliance with traffic rules, and proper vehicle maintenance.

Per NLEX Corporation, the participants for this year’s event were drivers, operators, mechanics, and leaders from various transport organizations trucking companies that include:
- Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines
- Inland Haulers and Truckers Association
- Haulers and Truckers Association in the Watersouth, Incorporated
- Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas, Incorporated
- Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines
- Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas
- Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations
- Stop and Go Transport Coalition, Bulacan Federation of Transport Cooperative
- Pinagsama Transport Cooperative and UV Express National Alliance of the Philippines
“This initiative gives our drivers the tools and knowledge to protect themselves, their passengers, and the communities they serve. We truly appreciate NLEX Corporation and its partners for continuously putting safety at the forefront of the transport industry,” INHTA President Teddy Gervacio said.

During the recent forum, Department of Transportation Director IV Joshua Joseph Rodriguez discussed safe cargo handling and loading practices, Land Transportation Office Acting Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. shared insights on traffic enforcement and violations, while Shell High Risk Transport Road Safety Advisor Edward Tan and AC-1 Transport and Equipment, Incorporated Senior Safety Officer Dawny Rubillo talked about journey management risk assessment.
Meanwhile, NLEX Assistant Manager for Environment, Health, and Safety Dave Bautista and the NLEX Patrol Team (Eric Cruz and Maike Lacson) discussed driver readiness and handling road emergencies with a safety-first mindset and tollway rules and regulations, respectively.

Apart from the lectures, the caravan had interactive activities to reinforce safe driving habits. Participants tested their skills on a driving simulator equipped with safety prompts and wore drunk goggles to understand the dangers of impaired driving firsthand.
