“The BMW M Performance Parts for the car’s aerodynamics, powertrain, chassis, and cockpit offer a wide variety of options for customizing the new BMW M2 with maximum performance in mind. All the components were developed on the back of BMW M GmbH’s motor-racing expertise and the experience it has garnered over five decades, and have been precisely tuned to match the two-door model’s specific characteristics,” BMW said in a press release.
Soon to be available are body kits that will not only improve the looks of the new BMW M2 but also enhance its aerodynamic properties. These are the BMW M Performance front splitter, air intake trim, side skirts, side spats and exterior mirror caps, rear lip spoiler, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, and the roof edge spoiler — all of which will be made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic.
Furthermore, a BMW M Performance tow strap and antenna cover will be made available. They will be made from aramid, another exclusive fiber composite material.
BMW M will also release a new silencer system for the upcoming M2. Dubbed the BMW M Performance silencer, the aforementioned performance component will give the souped-up two-door coupe an unmistakable look and distinct racecar acoustics.
Per the German automotive brand, the BMW M Performance silencer system will come with lightweight stainless steel front pipes and a titanium rear silencer.
“The soundtrack can be adjusted using the powertrain settings in the M Setup menu and hits a particularly exhilarating note reminiscent of a racing car in Sport and Sport+ modes,” BMW said.
Also to be made available is the BMW M Performance suspension. It will reportedly come with a coilover with height-adjustable spring cups at the front and rear axle. According to BMW, fitting the BMW M Performance suspension in the M2 will result in a far more direct connection between the body and the road surface, allowing drivers to experience track-inspired driving dynamics on everyday journeys.
The BMW M Performance Parts range will also feature high-grade components for the interior of the BMW M2 that bring targeted enhancements to its sportscar cockpit. To be made available are BMW M Performance interior trim panels in carbon fiber and Alcantara, Alcantara knee pads and armrest, backrest covers in carbon fiber and Alcantara, and the steering wheel Pro wrapped in carbon fiber and Alcantara or in carbon fiber and leather.
