Brand-New Cars in the Philippines that are Ideal as Graduation Gifts

They say that seeing your child graduate is one of the proudest and most memorable moments in a parent’s life. One of the reasons behind your happiness is that you’re hoping that your child will have a bright future ahead. On the other hand, you're probably also celebrating your child’s college graduation because you and your better half have also graduated from all school-related expenses. Finally, you can go take your long overdue trip out of the country, but wait, do you already have a graduation gift for your child? You should have one to reward your child's hard work and perseverance to make it through college. Oh, yeah--parenting never stops, my friend, it never stops. With that in mind, we went through our data to help you score a good graduation car gift for your child. To narrow down our search, we look into the most-searched car brands in the Carmudi platform. Then, we selected the car models that are priced below and a little over PHP800,000. Here are the brand-new cars in the Philippines that are ideal as a graduation gift.

TOYOTA

Toyota is the most-searched car brand in Carmudi. Upon checking its model lineup, there are three cars that fit within the said price range--the Wigo, Vios, and Yaris.

Toyota Wigo The Wigo is Toyota Philippines' challenger in the mini subcompact hatchback segment. It rivals the likes of the Mitsubishi Mirage, Kia Picanto, Suzuki Celerio, among others. Toyota's mini subcompact hatch is powered by a 1.0-liter gasoline engine that delivers 65 hp and 89 Nm of torque. The engine can be connected to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission depending on the variant. The 2019 Wigo has a starting price of PHP547,000. Toyota Vios The Vios is one of Toyota Philippines' best-selling cars. Last July 2018, Toyota PH launched the new Vios, which sports a restyled design that appears to be more aggressive and sportier as compared to its predecessor. It is equipped with either a 1.3-liter or a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) depending on the variant. The 2019 Vios is available in seven variants with a starting price of PHP659,000. Toyota Yaris Making it into Toyota's list is the Yaris, a subcompact hatchback that's powered by either a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Pricing for the Yaris starts at PHP880,000, which is already a bit close to 900K. However, the Yaris is one of the ideal choices in the market if you're looking for something different and a sporty-looking vehicle.

MITSUBISHI

Carmudi visitors also like to search for brand-new Mitsubishi cars. Based on the price list, there are two Mitsubishi models that could be an ideal graduation car gift. Disclaimer: Liza Soberano seems to love these Mitsubishi models. We're talking about the Mirage and the Mirage G4.

Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mirage is a hatchback that can accommodate up to five occupants. It is available in three variants with a starting price of PHP630,000, which is for the Mirage GLX 1.2 MT. This car is powered by a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that generates 77 hp and 100 Nm of torque. Of note, the entry-level Mirage is packed with almost all safety features that are similar across the entire range. It includes Dual Front Airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), among others. Mitsubishi Mirage G4 The Mirage G4 is Mitsubishi’s answer to the tightly-contested subcompact sedan segment. It is equipped with the same engine that's fitted to its hatchback sibling. The 2019 Mirage G4 is available in four variants with a starting price of PHP666,000.

HONDA

Honda is also one of the popular car brands in Carmudi. In fact, two out of the three Honda cars that made it into this list are also part of the most inquired sedans in Carmudi last 2018. The three Honda cars included as the ideal graduation car gift are the following: the Brio, Brio Amaze, and City. Honda Brio The Brio is Honda's machine that rivals the likes of the Toyota Wigo, Mitsubishi Mirage, Kia Picanto, among others. The Brio is powered by a 1.3-liter gasoline engine that puts out 99 hp and 128 Nm of torque. It is available in three variants with a choice of either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. Ford Ecosport The EcoSport is priced a bit over the set budget for this list. The entry-level variant of this Ford model has a sticker price of PHP918,000. If you have a sufficient budget, you might want to consider the EcoSport as it has a high ground clearance and a refreshed design.

HYUNDAI

Hyundai Philippines launched several new models last December 2018. It also introduced a new vehicle this year, which shows that this brand wants to be an aggressive player in the local market. To accomplish its mission, Hyundai Philippines made its pricing attractive. The Hyundai cars we're talking about are the Eon, Reina, and the all-new Accent. Hyundai EON The Eon is a mini subcompact hatchback that's equipped with a 0.8-liter gasoline engine that produces 55 hp and 75 Nm of torque.
