Brembo, Gold Phoenix to establish aftermarket brake pad firm

Brembo has announced that it has entered a joint venture with Gold Phoenix to establish an aftermarket brake pad company which will be called Shandong BRGP Friction Technology Co., Ltd. The said company will be the first large-scale Brembo manufacturing facility fully dedicated to producing innovative aftermarket pads.

    The newly formed company will bring together Brembo’s leadership in braking systems with Gold Phoenix’s high-tech friction solutions.

    Shandong BRGP Friction Technology’s goal, per the Italian brake solutions specialist, will also focus on superior product quality and innovation, especially in terms of performance, comfort, durability, and sustainability with the aim of anticipating the challenges of electrification and autonomous driving.

    The joint venture will produce aftermarket products for segments of passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. It is expected to start operations early next year and will be headquartered in Jinan, the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China.

    The overall investment from both companies is approximately €35 million over the next three years with both Brembo and Golden Phoenix agreeing to a 50/50 share of the new company.
