BYD Cars widens PHEV stable with Tang DM-i introduction

MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has formally introduced the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the Tang.

The BYD Tang Dual Mode-Intelligent (DM-i) is a three-row midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) that continues to offer safety, comfort, space, and performance in a different powertrain option.

On paper, the BYD Tang DM-i measures:

In terms of aesthetics, the BYD Tang DM-i resembles the Seal 5 DM-i — mainly because of the sharp nose, a large grille surrounded by contrasting colored details and sharp LED headlamp clusters.

Interior

Inside the BYD Tang DM-i is a cavernous space for seven individuals. Its front seats have power adjustability and ventilation features. Its second and third rows have split-folding functions.

Majority of the cabin is covered in leather while occupants are kept cool thanks to its dual-zone automatic climate control system.

Powertrain

Propelling the BYD Tang DM-I is the 1.5-liter turbocharged powertrain, permanent magnet synchronous motor, and 21.5-kilowatt-hour (kWh) Blade battery. The said powertrain — which lets the vehicle reach 100 kilometers per hour from rest in 7.5 seconds — has the capacity to deliver:

Power is sent to the front wheels using an electronically continuously variable transmission (eCVT). 

Similar to the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, the all-new Tang DM-i is equipped with both a direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) ports.

With a fully juiced battery and a tank full of gasoline, the BYD Tang DM-I can cover up to 1,160 kilometers (km). Running on electric vehicle mode alone, it can do 110 kms.

Aside from that, BYD's newest offering locally has vehicle-to-load and regenerative braking features.

Ensuring the vehicle’s controllability and maneuverability are the following:

Safety

Additionally, the BYD Tang DM-i comes with a myriad of safety technologies like six airbags, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent assist, tire pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, anti-rollover control, and a 360-degree view camera.

These are complemented by the BYD DiPilot suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) made up of: 

• Blind spot monitoring
• Forward collision warning
• Rear collision warning
• Rear-cross traffic alert
• Rear-cross traffic braking
• Adaptive cruise control
• Lane departure alert
• Door opening warning
• Intelligent high beam control

Pricing, color options

Available in Pearl White, Moonstone Grey, and Silver Sand Black, the BYD Tang DM-i is priced at P2.098 million.
