Caltex Hits Record Books, Reveals New Brand Ambassador

In collaboration with National Geographic and Guinness World Records, Caltex announced its latest campaign, World Record-Breaking Fuel, where the popular fuel brand aims to demonstrate how a world-class fuel can make the difference between making the record books and not.

The campaign partners Caltex with National Geographic for a two-part show that will appear on "Record Rides," an automotive reality entertainment series on the documentary channel. The show pits Pinoy celebrity KC Montero against Jamaican-Chinese professional rally race car driver Natasha Chang in a race to climb Thailand's Doi Chang Mountain Road the fastest.

Both drivers got behind the wheel of an ordinary car fueled with Caltex with Techron in climbing the 1,000-meter ascent.

According to a spokesperson, the show has already aired on the National Geographic channel and will air on ABS-CBN Sports & Action on July 21.

"Caltex partnered with Guinness World Records and set a timing of six minutes, 52.692 seconds, with Natasha achieving the coveted title 'The Fastest Ascent of Doi Chang Mountain Road by Using a 28-Year Old Car'," said Brian Fisher, Caltex Brand Manager. "With the world record powered by Caltex with Techron, our campaign encourages drivers to fuel up the same fuel that set a world record and experience its power in their everyday drive."

"This show will demonstrate how Caltex with Techron fuels can power an engine towards achieving an extraordinary journey," he added.

"Caltex with Techron is specially formulated to clean and protect engines," said Greg Engeler, Product Engineering Manager for Caltex. "The Guinness World Records title achievement helps demonstrate how a clean engine powered by Techron can function at its most optimum, which includes delivering maximum power to your wheels."

"This is the same fuel that our customers can experience at their neighborhood Caltex stations to power their everyday drive," Engeler added.

Caltex also introduced its latest brand ambassador, Dingdong Dantes. Selected for his versatility as an actor, producer, TV host, businessman, philanthropist, husband, and father of two kids, Dantes strikes as the fuel brand's ideal endorser for his public persona's stellar reputation.

"Dingdong Dantes' roster of achievements is a testament to his determination to keep on taking new challenges whether in acting, in business, or his personal life, each time beating his personal best," said Louie Zhang, country chairman of Chevron Philippines Inc., the local marketer of Caltex. "Aside from this, he is also the perfect embodiment of Caltex's tagline and philosophy of 'Enjoy the Journey.' He represents the brand's personality of being positive, friendly, genuine, and he encourages people to enjoy the journey of whatever they are doing and wherever they are going."
