MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has launched a service campaign for the Shark 6 Dual-Mode Off-Road (DMO) to address a potential defect in its spare tire lifter assembly.
In an advisory, the ACMobility-led distributor announced the campaign for the electrified pickup truck in the Philippines, instructing owners to immediately remove the spare tire from the hub if they had previously removed and reinstalled it.

The company also said its dealer representatives would contact affected customers once updated parts become available.
As of this article’s publication, the company had yet to disclose the number of BYD Shark 6 DMO units sold in the Philippines that are covered by the campaign.

It can be recalled that the BYD Shark 6 DMO made its official debut locally in March 2025.
The brand’s local service campaign follows a similar warning from its counterpart in New Zealand concerning the installation and fastening of the spare wheel assembly.
Photo from Cesar Guiderone MiguelAccording to the overseas advisory, incorrect installation or positioning of the spare wheel tray, or insufficient fastening torque, could cause abnormal wear on the spare wheel support cable. If the cable deteriorates, the spare wheel could detach from the vehicle while it is in use.
BYD New Zealand warned that a detached spare wheel could pose a hazard to other road users and potentially cause serious injury or death.
