(The continuation of the Libreng Sakay program under the Service Contracting Program Phase 3 conforms with the directive of DOTr Secretary Art Tugade to give our countrymen transport assistance, especially our medical frontliners and other essential workers. The department expects that the free ride service will extend from the EDSA Busway to other parts of the country.).

(Through the department’s Service Contracting Program, both drivers and operators will receive incentives based on the number of trips they made every week — whether they make the trips with or without passengers.),” read DOTr’s announcement on Facebook.

The department looks forward to helping many commuters as phase three of DOTr’s Service Contracting Program is concurrently implemented with Libreng Sakay program in MRT-3.

Not only does DOTr aim to help Filipino commuters by offering free rides but also to sustain the livelihood of the country’s public transport drivers and operators amid the pandemic, inflation, and rising fuel prices.
