Ford suspends operations in Russia

In a recent press release, Ford has released a statement regarding the invasion of Ukraine and the resulting threats to peace and stability. According to Ford, the recent events has compelled the Blue Oval brand to reassess its operations in Russia.

Ford said that in recent years, operations in Russia have significantly wound down with a focus on commercial van manufacturing and sales through a minority interest in the Ford Sollers joint venture.

“Given the situation, we have today informed our JV partners that we are suspending our operations in Russia, effective immediately, until further notice,” said Ford.

Ford also adds that while the American automotive brand does not have significant operations in Ukraine, it does have a strong contingent of Ukrainian nationals working at Ford around the world, and the automotive company will continue to support them through this time.

Ford Fund, the company’s corporate foundation and philanthropic arm, is making a US$100,000 donation to the Global Giving Ukraine Relief Fund for humanitarian aid to assist Ukrainian citizens and families who have been displaced during this crisis.
