Honda SENSING can help motorists get by holiday traffic safely and conveniently

Honda vehicles with Honda Sensing

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) expressed firm confidence that the Honda SENSING suite of technologies can help ease the strain and stress of driving through traffic during this holiday season.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the suite of technologies that can be found in the Honda Sensing?

The host of technologies that can be found in the Honda Sensing are the adaptive cruise control, low speed follow, lead car departure notification system, lane keeping assist system, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking system, and auto high beam.
  • What models in the Philippines have Honda Sensing?

Local models that come with Honda Sensing are Honda BR-V 1.5 VX CVT, 11th-generation Civic, Civic Type R CR-V S and SX Diesel AWD, as well as the all-new HR-V.
  • Below are the Honda SENSING’s capabilities that make driving safer and convenient.

According to HCPI, Honda’s adaptive cruise control (ACC) detects the speed and distance of vehicles in front using a wide-view camera technology, which can be used in traffic on busy streets, as well as on clear open roads.

The ACC will automatically decelerate and accelerate the vehicle’s speed based on the car in front. The system is, therefore, able to perform braking and acceleration as needed.

The low-speed follow automatically slows down the vehicle to a complete stop and accelerates back up to the set speed when the traffic conditions allow.

Meanwhile, the lead car departure notification system— available on the Honda SENSING’s latest version — utilizes a new camera with a wider field of view combined with improved software. The feature alerts the driver through visual and audio warnings whenever the system senses that the car in front has moved ahead from a standstill.

The lane keeping assist system and lane departure warning help drivers maintain their position inside the lane. The steering wheel will vibrate, and an icon will pop up on the screen once it senses the car departing the lane without the use of turn signals. Its road departure mitigation aids the driver by steering the car back to the center of the lane.

Further, Honda SENSING-equipped vehicles also come with an auto high beam feature that instinctively turns on the high beams when needed and lowers the beam appropriately when it detects encountering oncoming traffic.

In addition, models that are fitted with Honda SENSING also have the collision mitigation braking system that automatically applies the brakes when necessary. Once the system or the driver eludes the possible frontal collision, the audible alarm will stop.

To note, Honda SENSING technology is available in most of HCPI’s offerings. Its latest version can be found in the all-new Honda BR-V 1.5 VX CVT, 11th-generation Honda Civic, and all-new Honda HR-V.

    Honda CR-V 2.0 S CVT

Other models with Honda SENSING are the Civic Type R and select variants of the CR-V (S and SX Diesel AWD).

In a statement, HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura said that Honda SENSING represents the brand’s “unwavering commitment to realizing ‘Safety for Everyone’.”

“As we expand the line-up of vehicles equipped with this intelligent safety and driver-assist system, we are pursuing the goal of zero traffic collision fatalities from Honda vehicles. We also hope for more awareness of the Honda SENSING features so that our customers can experience the joy and freedom of mobility. With the collective effort of vehicle owners, dealers, car makers, and all road users, we can meaningfully improve road safety” Nakamura shared.

Customers can book a test drive of Honda SENSING-equipped models by visiting any of the 37 Honda Cars dealerships nationwide or via HCPI’s virtual showroom at www.hondaphil.com.

Although believing in the vehicles’ competencies, HCPI advised motorists that Honda SENSING vehicles are not self-driving or fully automated since the technology only provides driving support.

Videos of the Honda SENSING features are also available on HCPI’s website www.hondaphil.com and on HCPI’s official YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/hondacarsph.
