Hyundai reveals new Sonata

Hyundai has revealed the new Sonata midsize sedan, said to be its sportiest iteration to date.

According to the South Korean carmaker, the new Hyundai Sonata has an N Line-based exterior design providing the eight-generation model a long hood, low front-end, and fastback roof line.

“Through more than a simple facelift, the new Sonata revolutionizes the old Sonata’s image, launched in 2019, and is reborn as a dynamic, progressive new model with low-slung, elegant proportions, more aggressive styling, and future-oriented technology. The new Sonata presents a fresh take on the four-door coupe that captures the essence of Hyundai Motor’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy,” Hyundai wrote in a press release.

With a sporty body style as a backdrop, Hyundai slapped retro-modern appointments to the new Sonata’s exterior. These come in the form of the brand’s Seamless Horizon Lamp, hidden headlamps, wide grille, and air intake.

To its rear is a swooping spoiler-shaped trunk lid and muffler-shaped rear garnish.

A high-performance N Line variant will be released, which will get a rear spoiler, dual exhaust pipes, and exclusive 19-inch wheels.

Inside, the new Hyundai Sonata flaunts a driver-centric cockpit highlighted by a panoramic curved display that combines both a 12.3-inch driver information cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system.

Also featured is a touch-type climate control unit and an extended armrest for greater comfort.

Per Hyundai, the new Sonata will make an appearance at this year’s Seoul Mobility Show, scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 9.

To note the Sonata nameplate was once offered in the country by Hyundai's previous distributor, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc.
