Laoag City to Embark on Traffic Experiment
A drastic traffic experiment in downtown Laoag is eyed to improve the traffic flow along Gilbert bridge up to Rizal street, Bacarra road and the Sirib mile along Ablan avenue during weekday rush hours.
"The proposed experimental scheme will be presented in a public hearing on August 30 at the multi-purpose hall covered court of the Laoag City Hall," Vice Mayor Vicentito Lazo said.
Lazo invited all concerned stockholders to participate in the hearing where the Draft City Resolution No. 2019-018 authorizes the Philippine National Police (PNP) to implement the traffic experiment in the city.
Under the proposal, parking will not also be allowed at pedestrian crossings and intersections on the road.
Some minor traffic adjustments will also be determined by the implementing authorities for smooth implementation.
In an earlier interview, City Mayor Michael Keon said traffic in downtown Laoag is getting worse so there is a need to implement some measures to address the matter.
