Lexus PH launches heavily-updated IS

MANILA: Lexus Philippines has heavily-updated the IS a year after it made its global debut. 

Seen at the ongoing Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival 2026, the spruced-up sedan is available in two hybrid options and  one internal combustion engine-powered trim.

Here are some notable bits of information about the Lexus IS’ latest iteration.

Powertrain

As mentioned, the new Lexus IS is powered by either a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline hybrid engine mated to an electronically continuously variable transmission while the other, 3.5-liter 2GR-FKS V6 gasoline engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Further, the refreshed Lexus IS kept the rear-wheel-drive platform as well as the front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension setup.

Exterior

In terms of appearance, the new Lexus IS sports a larger mesh-type grille bordered by sharp LED headlamp clusters, and an athletic lower front bumper. It received a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels for the hybrid trims and 19-inch forged alloys for the top-spec  version. 

A roof-mounted spoiler has been slapped on the top-of-the-line trim while retaining the same LED taillight, dual-exhaust setup, and rear diffuser.

Other notable exterior features include automatic headlamp functionality, clearance and fog lamps (front/rear), power-folding and adjustable side mirrors with reverse link and heater, rain-sensing wipers, and a moon roof.

Interior

Inside, Lexus gave the new IS updates. Instead of an analog set, its gauge clusters now come as a fully digital 12.3-inch multi-information display. 

Aside from that, its central infotainment system grew to 12.3 inches (from the previous 10.3)— with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is paired to a 17-inch Mark Levinson speaker set. 

Other creature comforts include:

• Smart entry system
• Push-to-start button
• Drive mode selector (economy, normal, sport, sport+)
• Power-adjustable tilt and telescopic steering column
• Leather steering wheel and seats
• Electronic parking brake
• Electrochromic rearview mirror 
• Dual-zone automatic climate control system with rear vents

Safety

Safety-wise, the top-spec Lexus IS Sport features dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, and knee airbags, anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control, hill-start control, traction control, ISOFIX, tire pressure monitoring, as well as a clearance and rear sonar system. 

These are boosted by a suite of advanced driver-assist systems, such as: 

• Pre-collision system
• Automatic high beams
• Lane trace assist
• Lane departure alert
• Dynamic radar cruise control

Moreover, updated Lexus IS can be test driven at the ongoing 2026 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival, which runs until May 10 from 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
