Lotus Cars Manila confirmed the arrival of the Emira in the third quarter of 2023.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many variants does the Lotus Emira have?

The Lotus Emira currently has two variants: a 3.5-liter-equipped model and a 2.0-liter-outfitted trim.
  • Which company provided the 2.0-liter engine and eight-speed transmission for the Lotus Emira?

The engine and transmission for the 2.0-liter Lotus Emira was provided by Mercedes-AMG.
  • The announcement came soon after the famed British carmaker revealed that the said sports car is now offered with two powertrain setups.

To note, Autohub Group of Companies, a distributor of Lotus cars here in the Philippines, also announced the sports car’s arrival in the archipelago not too long ago

We are yet to receive verification from the local arm of the Geely-owned brand if the country would soon welcome the 3.5-liter-equipped Lotus Emira, the one outfitted with the newer 2.0-liter powerplant, or better yet, both.

For comparison’s sake, the former packs a chunky V6 provided by Toyota, which is mated to a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The said setup makes 394 horses. The latter, with its leaner four-cylinder, produces 355 horsepower.

While the Lotus Emira slapped with the beefier powerplant can be seen as more of a powerful weekend track car, the one packing the smaller mill might be viewed as a more practical daily driver for the flashy high roller.

It is also worth noting that the Lotus Emira fitted with the smaller engine boasts technologies borrowed from the Hethel-headquartered brand’s technical partner Mercedes-AMG. These come in the form of the actual engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Overall, the two variants of the Lotus Emira — should both arrive in the country — offer its would-be Filipino owners some room for flexibility in choosing the right sports car for their motoring needs.

“The Emira V6 has already proved incredibly successful, with many thousands of orders received from around the world. Now, with the four-cylinder Emira joining the range, we’re adding a new dimension to the car’s breadth of capability and appeal, offering new levels of efficiency and accessibility while continuing to offer all the performance and agility that our customers expect,” Lotus Group Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Mike Johnstone said in a press release.
