Bermaz Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of
Mazda vehicles and parts in the country, introduced its latest--a new variant, rather--for the well-loved and well-endowed CX-9 crossover, designed to provide
luxury at lowered price tag.
Mazda Philippines president and CEO
Steven Tan spearheaded the unveiling of the company's latest addition to its seven-seater crossover nameplate, the
2018 Mazda CX-9 Sport Touring, during a night out with the media.
Pegged at
PHP2.350 million, the front-wheel drive Mazda CX-9 Sport Touring shares numerous features with the
all-wheel drive CX-9 Grand Touring. For starters, this latest offering shares the same
2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine with
Dynamic Pressure Turbo.
The said engine achieved a
12.92 km/L reading during
the test conducted in 2017 by the Department of Energy (DOE).
Aside from that, Tan said that the new variant is fitted with leather seats, and key safety features like the
G-vectoring control,
six airbags and the
Mazda Connect infotainment system.
The differences between the Grand Touring and the Sport Touring, as Tan cited, are its sunroof, Bose speakers for its infotainment system, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure warning.
The tires of the 2018 Mazda CX-9 Sport Touring are also slightly smaller, with the top variant having 20-inch alloys as compared to the dark silver
18 inches fitted on the new offer.
Tan said that the introduction of the CX-9 Sport Touring "represents Mazda Philippines' desire to provide customers a prestigious product at a more attractive price point."
"It is the only premium seven-seater crossover below PHP2.5 million pesos and it delivers the same plush interiors, superior car-like riding and comfort and handling as well as outstanding performance and fuel economy as its Grand Touring sibling."

Further, the Active Driving Display, auto dimming rear view mirrors, rear sunshade amenities and chrome door trimmings shall remain solely in the CX-9 Grand Touring variant, which will is still priced at P2.830 million.
