The long wait is finally over. Followers of Nissan in the Philippines and fans of electric vehicles (EVs) can soon have their hands on the Nissan Leaf.
Nissan has announced the much-anticipated formal introduction of the Nissan Leaf next weekend, (Sunday, May 9). The company will make the official introduction via official Nissan Philippines’ Facebook and YouTube page.
The Nissan Leaf was scheduled to be introduced last year. However, for various reasons the coming of Nissan Leaf was delayed.
Still, Nissan in the Philippines continued to conduct an information campaign on the benefits and qualities of the Leaf.
Prior to the reveal, the Japanese automotive manufacturer said that a fully juiced-up Leaf can cover up to an average of 311 kilometers, can be charged in 12 to 15 hours (using a cable that is delivered with your car), five to seven hours (via wall box), or as fast as 40-60 minutes via high-speed charging stations.
Further, driving a Nissan Leaf only produces noise of only 21 decibels, unlike the 82 decibels a regular car produces when running at 80 kilometers per hour.
The Leaf now marks a decade in the industry and is sold in 59 markets around the world. More than 500,000 units have already been sold. The electric hatchback is currently produced in Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In the Philippines, among the few times it was showcased for the public to see were at the 2020 Electric Vehicles Association of Philippines virtual summit and the lighting of Christmas tree in Pasig for Christmastime last year.
