Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Finally Reveals SCG 004S 'Entry-Level' Supercar

SCG 004S

Nearly a month ago, we reported that Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) was developing a three-seater supercar that will be built in the United States. Well, the low-volume manufacturer and Nurburgring Endurance Championship team has finally revealed the car, the SCG 004S, not only through its styling model and computer-rendered images but by sharing further details about its 'entry-level' supercar as well.

In our initial report, we said that the supercar "will be road-legal and built in the United States; it could have a 650 hp turbocharged engine that has 720 Nm of torque and is mated to gated six-speed manual transmissionwith a clutch pedal option; weigh around 1,100 kg thanks to its carbon-fiber chassis and body; and seat three people, with the driver right in the middle" and also said that it would cost "around $400,000(approximately P20 million)."

It seems SCG has adhered to all that, with the engine being a 5.0-liter TT mill with a red line of around 8,200 rpm, and thanks to its carbon-fiber body and chassis (available in either natural or tinted), a weight of around 1,180 kg.

As we previously reported as well, the SCG 004S has a center-mounted driver's seat in the cockpit with passenger seats slightly behind and to the left and right of the driver, much like the legendary McLaren F1 supercar. The SCG 004S also has a feature that has become increasingly rare in today's supercars: a manual gearbox with six forward speeds and a clutch pedal as standard although a two-pedal, paddle-shift option is available. Another nice touch to the cabin are the black-on-white analog gauges which give the interior a very old-school feel and look.

Outside, the SCG 004S's standout features are its front wing, which is built onto the bonnet, and the rounded greenhouse that's similar to the Ferrari P4--the one-off Pininfarina-designed car that used the platform of a Ferrari Enzo Ferrari and drew its inspiration from the Ferrari P4/5 race car--commissioned and owned by SCG founder and race team principal James Glickenhaus.

According to SCG, a running prototype of the 004S will be running by the middle of 2018, with the delivery of 25 Founders Edition cars happening in 2018 and 2019 before the 250 'standard' cars are delivered to their owners between 2020 and 2021.

To order a car, you need to personally get in touch with James Glickenhaus himself at jim@SCGcars.com and be prepared to hand over $40,000 (around P2 million)  "against purchase price upon signing."

And just in case you plan to race it, SCG will also create GT3 and GTE/GTLM competition versions of the 004S.
