Seaoil PH also Extends Fuel Subsidy Provision DOTr's Free Ride
Another fuel company showed compassion to our medical frontliners after extending their support to the Free Ride for Health Workers Program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Independent oil firm Seaoil Philippines has extended the assistance until May 15, following the announcement of an extended lockdown in Metro Manila, along with other affected provinces.
Seaoil Philippines has joined other oil companies in extending the support to the DOTr's mission to provide medical frontliners with transportation assistance during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade expressed gratitude over the initiative, saying that the company will ensure the continuity of the free ride program.
"We're grateful for the decision of Seaoil Philippines to extend its grant of fuel subsidies until May 15. With their help, along with our partner oil firms, we can ease the burden of our bus operators in terms of filling up their tanks in their daily service to medical frontliners while the ECQ in Metro Manila is in place. Sa panahon ngayon, kailangan nating magtulungan upang umagapay sa pangangailangan ng ating mga modern heroes—our frontliners," Tugade said.
Seaoil Philippines has been providing 50 liters of free fuel to 15 bus units that are participating in the free ride initiative since April 13. With the extension, the oil company has pledged to provide a total of 24,750 liters of fuel, translating to P742,500.
Bus units in the Free Ride for Health Workers Program can fill up their tanks for free at any Seaoil gas station in Metro Manila.
The DOTr has been transporting health workers to their medical communities since March 18, 2020. As of April 27, 2020, it has now a total ridership of 450,791—combined figures of ridership in National Capital Region, and other regions covered.
Earlier CleanFuel, Phoenix Petroleum, and Petron Corporation have renewed its support for the Program, giving the shuttle services until May 15, committing more for the welfare of those in the frontlines against the dreaded disease.
