Two of the most iconic sports cars currently offered in the local automotive market are the Toyota GR Supra and the Mustang GT. Interested to know which of these performance-oriented vehicles fits your motoring needs? Find out as we pit the ‘Stang and the Supra in a sportscar skirmish.
First, let’s check at this match’s tale of the tape.

Toyota GR Supra
At a glance, the Ford Mustang seems to be the larger and more dominating sportscar between the two. It’s longer, wider, and taller overall. The American also enjoys a higher ground clearance than the Japanese.
However, for performance-oriented models, having the car’s center mass sitting closer to the ground means it has better handling and reduced body roll when cornering. In addition, a shorter wheelbase means better maneuverability and a tighter turning radius.
On that premise, we give this round to the Toyota GR Supra.
Let’s start with the Supra. Inside is an instrument panel with an 8.8-inch TFT LCD display speedometer, tachometer, and an odometer with trip meter. A similarly sized 8.8-inch widescreen TFT LCD with USB and Bluetooth serves as the Supra’s infotainment system with navigation and touchscreen and remote touch functions.
Audio from the head unit is sent to a JBL 12-speaker HiFi Surround sound system.
A driver-oriented cabin features a three-spoke leather steering wheel with paddle shifters and additional controls for audio, phone, and cruise control. The Alcantara sports seats with lumbar support add a level of comfort when driving in high-speed situations.
On the other hand, the Ford Mustang GT sports a 12-inch fully customizable instrument cluster and an eight-inch multi-functional touchscreen display with USB port. Audio is delivered to a Shaker Pro audio system with 12 speakers and a subwoofer plus HD radio technology.
It also comes with its fair share of leather accents found at the steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake lever.
With both sports cars offering even amounts of sports-oriented amenities, this round’s going to be a tie.
Inside the Mustang GT is a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine mated to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Overall, the ‘Stang’s powerplant makes a maximum of 460hp and a maximum of 570Nm torque.
Meanwhile, the Toyota GR Supra offers a six-cylinder, in-line type, twin-scroll turbocharged mill mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This powertrain setup allows the Supra to put out 335hp and 500Nm of torque.
Thanks to its more powerful engine, the Ford Mustang GT takes this round.
It’s important to have superior safety features when you’re driving cars as fast as these two. That said, both the ‘Stang and the Supra come with impeccable safety amenities.
Toyota packs the Supra with a suite of airbags, vehicle stability control, an anti-lock brake system (ABS), and traction control.
Not to be outdone, Ford outfitted the Mustang with a slew of airbags, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control (ESC), individual tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), perimeter alarm, and SOS post-crash alert system.
With safety features that are neck and neck, both cars are tied in the battle for safety.

GR Supra 3.0L A/T – P4,990,000
Both cars have their respective strengths and weaknesses. The Supra offers a more nimble sports car while the Mustang GT gives you superior driving power.
In the end, choosing between the two boils down to personal preference.
