Introduced in 1997, the Subaru Forester has been a popular choice for customers looking for a fun, safe, and reliable SUV. With 25 years and five generations under its belt, the nameplate has established itself as one of the best-selling models in Europe with deliveries of over 357,000 units in the region.
Subaru looks to follow through with a refreshed model of the Forester for the European market.
Outside, it features a redesigned front fascia, grille, headlights, fog light covers, and will be offered in new paint schemes including Cascade Green Silica, Brilliant Bronze Metallic, and Autumn Green Metallic.
The cabin boasts a high-quality interior with increased passenger and cargo space. An eight-inch screen navigation featuring the latest infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is available for the 2022 Subaru Forester model says the carmaker.
Under the hood, the Euro-spec crossover SUV is fitted with the e-Boxer powertrain: a direct-injection 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor within the customized Lineartronic transmission.
The hybrid powertrain setup moves the vehicle using the electric motor from a standstill or when driving at low speeds. At medium speeds, both the electric motor and the ICE work together to power the vehicle. Meanwhile, the work is done only by the 2.0-liter power plant when driving at high speeds.
Improved driving dynamics is achieved thanks to the brand’s standard symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive (S-AWD), standard active torque vectoring, standard driver-selectable modes, and an enhanced dual-mode X-Mode.
Safety-wise, it’s equipped with the latest fourth-generation EyeSight Driver Assist Technology with three new functions: automatic emergency steering, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and lane departure prevention.
The Subaru Forester also now has an improved pre-collision braking system and an enhanced driver monitoring system.
Pricing and availability of the Euro-spec Forester are still to be announced.
