Here are some of its highlights.

    New hybrid powertrain, familiar chassis

Under the bonnet of the Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is a 2.5-liter e-Boxer engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor mated to a hybrid Lineatronic continuously variable transmission with six-speed manual mode.

The setup produces over 160 horsepower with 276 Newton-meters of torque.

In addition, the hybrid powertrain is able to send the SUV from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 9.4 seconds with a top speed of 182 kph.

Of course, we still get the familiar chassis features we love about Subaru cars, such as its front MacPherson strut and rear double wishbone suspension system. Added support and dynamics come from the marque’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system, active torque vectoring, and vehicle dynamics control system.

    Other stories:

    Exterior, interior

Echoing the capabilities of the Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid are new appointments all around the vehicle.

At the fore is a new grille flanked by LED illumination. These complement the new front bumper with discreet honeycomb appliques.

To the sides are angular wheel arches with functional air vents found on models like the WRX. These work well with the claddings on the SUV’s side sills and highlight its set of 19-inch wheels with 235/50 series tires.

Its rear gets a roof-mounted spoiler, a decent-sized window, a power tailgate with a kick sensor, and a bumper that echoes the design elements at the front.

Eagle-eyed customers can spot several iconic badges on the vehicle, such as the “e-boxer” emblem, which Subaru uses for its hybrid models. There are also some easter eggs, which are fun to see.

The cabin is filled with good-quality materials and features that are geared towards comfort, convenience.

Drivers will be faced with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters for manual gear shifting. Past it is an instrument cluster that combines both analog and digital gauges, complemented by an 11.6-inch vertically-oriented infotainment system.

Audio is sent to a premium Harman Kardon sound system while passengers are kept cool thanks to a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system.

Notable too are its leather-ultrasuede seats and the honeycomb elements on the dashboard that mimic those found outside the vehicle.

    Safety

The Subaru Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) will also be debuting on the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid. It is an advanced system that can detect prolonged period of driver inactivity, indicating a potential emergency, and automatically bring the vehicle to a complete, safe stop.

It makes the vehicles’ robust list of safety technologies even better and appeals to discerning drivers who put safety above all.
