Toyota teams up with Rookie Racing for Idemitsu 1500 Super Endurance 2022

Toyota announced that it will team up with Rookie Racing to participate in the upcoming Idemitsu 1500 Super Endurance 2022 (Thailand 25H Endurance Race), which will take place this coming December 17-18, 2022.

To be held at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand, the Japanese automotive brand and the Japan-based motorsports team will field the ORC Rookie GR Corolla H2 Concept and the ORC Rookie GR86 CNF Concept. This will be the first time for both vehicles to participate in a race outside of Japan.

It will not be the first time Rookie Racing will campaign in Thailand. The racing team has won the 10-hour Idemitsu 600 Super Endurance 2019. This year, Rookie Racing and Toyota will put the souped-up GR Corolla H2 concept and the GR86 CNF Concept through their paces in an environment different from Japan. And in classic Toyota fashion, their experience in the 25-hour endurance race will be used to accelerate efforts to expand technology options toward creating a carbon-neutral society across the globe.

Toyota and Rookie Racing’s participation in the upcoming event will not be for the full 25-hour race though. Per the carmaker, Toyota and Rookie Racing’s participation will only be for the first and last few hours of the race.
